1. Show genuine care and concern: Jesus demonstrated unconditional love by showing concern for people’s well-being, regardless of their status or beliefs. We can follow His example by reaching out to those who the Holy Spirit will direct you. We think that someone that is struggling might be a candidate, but we will not be any use unless we hear from the Holy Spirit. They might not even be ready to listen. Your desire to “help” just might be an interference to God’s plan. Stop, wait and listen. Then God will allow you to hear HIS will and desire for the other person. Eventually, you will be able to automatically understand what is going on inside you and it will be just like “falling off a log,” but sometimes God is teaching us how to listen first, then we can help others. We must be able to help ourselves before we can truly help others. Showing them you care, is an obviously understood, but that isn’t what I’m speaking about here. Eventually, as you are directed by the Holy Spirit, for example, you could offer to listen to their problems, provide them with a meal, or simply offer a kind word of encouragement. Kindness and compassion is never “wrong,” All I’m speaking about in the purpose of this little book is to learn how to listen to the Spirit of God.
